Fortis SpeedCore® C18 PFP – New Fused Core Technology

Speedcore® C18-PFP increases selectivity over alkyl chain stationary phase particles. Leading to a combination of high efficiency, resolution and sensitivity.
  • Orthogonal selectivity
  • Improve resolution even at high speed
  • Provide high efficiency
  • Excellent method development option
SpeedCore C18-PFP structure
SpeedCore® C18-PFP features a mixture of C18 alkyl chain ligands and PentaFluoroPhenyl (PFP) ligands. This provides multiple mechanisms of interaction between stationary phase and analytes, allowing for unique selectivity of closely related species and metabolites. No complex mobile phase additives are necessary, therefore simplifying LC method development.
  • π-π (high selectivity)
  • Steric selectivity
  • Hydrophobicity (highly stable)
Orthogonal Selectivity – Substituted Benzenes

Application Note – SpeedCore Method Transfer Document by Fortis Technologies

fortisHPLC

Fortis® Technologies Ltd. supplies UHPLC and HPLC columns to the pharmaceutical, environmental and foodstuffs industries. Their goal is to supply innovative solutions to the separation and purification industries.

In their new application note – Transfer of HPLC methods to SpeedCore particles – they outline how to transfer an old slow HPLC method to core-shell particles in order to provide a much faster method. Learn how to use 3 simple equations to change parameters to do this.

T1 deactivated SGE Inlet Liners

Developed specifically for EPA Method 8270 – for determination of semi-volatile organic compounds in extracts prepared from many types of solid waste, soils, water samples, and air sampling media -Trajan’s TI deactivated liners are unique and application specific, extensively tested and optimized for semi-volatiles analysis.

SGE TI deactivated liner

Several compounds in Method 8270 are susceptible to excessive degradation in the GC flow path and are potentially difficult to analyse if the inlet liner is not properly deactivated. Trajan’s TI deactivated liners are tested using a mix containing low levels (2ng on column) of problematic compounds:
N-nitrosodimethylamine, aniline, 2,4-dinitrophenol, 4-nitrophenol, 2-methyl-4,6-dinitrophenol, 4-aminobiphenol, pentachlorophenol, benzidine, benzo(b)fluoranthene, benzo(k)fluoranthene, and 3,3′-dichlorobezidine

More information about Trajan’s TI deactivated liners is available here.

Deactivation of SGE TI Inlet Liners for EPA 8270 semi-volatiles analysis is certified using 2,4-dinitrophenol and pentachlorophenol to ensure response factors above EPA method requirements.

SGE TI Inlet Liners are now available for Agilent and Thermo 1300 series instruments.

Using Alternative Carrier Gases with Accelerated ASTM D2887 Simulated Distillation Analysis

By Katarina Oden, Barry Burger, and Amanda Rigdon.
PCAR2320-UNV_header

ASTM Method D2887 now allows for alternate carrier gases, so hydrogen or nitrogen can replace helium carrier gas for simulated distillation. Here is shown that with an MXT®-1HT SimDist column and Restek’s EZGC® online method translator existing methods using helium can be easily converted to either hydrogen or nitrogen carrier gas. Because retention times are preserved with proper method translation, there are minimal changes to peak identification tables, which significantly simplifies method validation.
